Despite recent adverse publicity about the performance of Public Private Partnerships, the demand for social and economic infrastructure still outweighs the fiscal resources of federal, state and local governments. Local governments are deeply pragmatic organisations which have to deal with development issues and proposals on a daily basis, and have to respond and make decisions in a timely manner - based on their best understanding of the financial and regulatory frameworks in place at the time.

The 3rd Building and Financing Local Government Conference has been designed to assist local government decision-makers to bridge the infrastructure gap, and to showcase leading edge examples of innovation and success in building and financing infrastructure. This event has become an annual draw-card for members of local government responsible for management and development of infrastructure projects, and for those from the private sector looking to partner with government in funding, rolling out and maintaining infrastructure works.
