The second Roads & Pavement Engineering & Management Conference 2007 has been designed to alert road asset owners, road engineers, managers, consultants, contractors and suppliers about the most important new developments and issues in the road industry.

This two-day event will bring together councils, state government road managers, and the private sector.

Speaking Program
Senior managers and leading practitioners and consultants in the road and pavements sector will present up-to-the-minute, highly relevant and practical information to assist road managers and engineers to perform their roles in an increasingly complex road environment.

CASE STUDIES from a number of Council Engineers will be a feature of this conference.

Topics will include: Road and asset management, alternative sources of road funding, project delivery, contract management, partnerships & alliance models, pavement management, unsealed roads, innovations in road surfacings, dust control, cost effective road maintenance, signs, roadmarking, worksite safety, water management and conservation within the road reserve.

Workshops: A series of Workshops will be conducted parallel to the speaking stream. Delegates can freely swap between attending the speaking stream or a workshop. The Conference Fee includes attendance at either.

Master Class Workshop on Asset Accounting and Management, 9-12:30 March 29:

The objective of this half-day workshop is for Finance Managers and Asset Managers/Engineers to appreciate and understand, how depreciation, valuations and asset accounting works from a perspective of ageing infrastructure. It is also aimed at your auditors. With the new changes to the accounting standards and adoption of Fair Value, many auditors will also be looking for guidance on how best to implement the changes and how to ensure that your Council can support the methodology and gain audit clearance. 

This workshop will get into more specific detail.

  • Learn how to build an asset consumption model using real-time data.
  • Apply this model to the asset accounting method.
  • Develop depreciation figures based on fair value.

David Edgerton (ex Queensland Audit Office) is one of Australia’s leading Asset Accounting Auditors and together with Ashay Prabhu (Asset Management Practitioner) will present practical views on how asset accounting and asset management can be used together as a seamless tool for better governance.

This Master Class can be attended as part of a 1 or 2 Day Conference Registration or in isolation for $345 inc GST including lunch, proceedings & the road exhibition.

Water in the Road Reserve Session: 3:30-5:30 pm March 29:

Climate Change is c ausing us to rethink how we do things including water management practices within the road reserve. The last session on the conference features water conservation, reducing water use in road reserves, the city as a catchment, harvesting stormwater, innovations in water sensitive urban design and more.

This session is suited to engineers, landscape architects, town planners, councilors, open space staff & water authorities.

 

This Water Session Class can be attended as part of a 1 or 2 Day Conference Registration or in isolation as a Seminar for $120 inc GST including afternoon tea & the road exhibition.
