Councillor magazine, a publication from Hallmark Editions, provides the nation's 6,000 serving councillors with timely and relevant information about developments impacting on their roles and responsibilities.

Previously, the dedicated men and women who serve on the 500-plus councils throughout Australia have not had a publication which has focused exclusively on their particular requirements.

Councillor Magazine is being published quarterly in the months of March, June, September and December.

Innovative and successful initiatives employed by councils to reduce anti-social behaviour and crime within their local communities are analysed in the March/April 2010 edition of Councillor magazine.

This edition of the national magazine for Australia’s councillors and mayors also features analysis of the key policy commitments Australia’s local government sector will seek from the major parties in the lead-up to this year’s expected federal election, including financial, constitutional and environmental reforms.

Other articles in this edition include: an examination of why Australian local governments must ensure the nation’s cities are sustainably transformed in order to maintain liveability despite population growth pressures; and case studies of systems and procedures councils have successfully installed to provide induction processes for new councillors.
