Featured in the December/January issue of Councillor:

The impact that Labor’s federal election victory is likely to have on local government is analysed in-depth in the December/January edition of Councillor magazine.

This issue also features a full wrap of the proceedings of the 2007 National General Assembly of Local Government, the peak annual event for Australia’s councils.

Also featured in the magazine is an article examining the latest campaign tactics being used by councillors and candidates in the lead-up to local government elections. With New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland to hold council elections in 2008 and WA only recently convening municipal polls, this edition contains a timely investigation of the campaign methods being employed by candidates and other trends that are occurring in council election races.

The contents of this issue also include an analysis of two WA councils’ innovative joint security service that has boosted community safety, Salisbury City Council’s successful efforts to attract new businesses to the municipality and how the City of Maribyrnong is ensuring that social issues are taken into account during the council’s assessment of development applications.
